Flood Watch Remains in Effect for Rhode Island July 6-7

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for all of Rhode Island through Tuesday afternoon as periods of heavy rain move through the region. Most areas are expected to receive 1 to 3 inches of rain, but isolated bands could produce 4 to 6 inches in a short period of time, leading to localized flash flooding.

We also spotted a motorcycle traveling northbound on Route 146 during heavy rain and reduced visibility. We do not recommend riding a motorcycle in these conditions if it can be avoided.

If you’re traveling today, slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and use caution on roads that may be prone to flooding.
