PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Senate chamber at the Rhode Island State House will be formally dedicated Thursday in honor of former Senate President Dominick Ruggerio.
Ruggerio, who served as a longtime leader in the General Assembly, passed away last April.
Ceremony planned at State House
State officials will gather Thursday inside the Senate chamber, where a plaque will be unveiled in Ruggerio’s honor.
Members of his family are expected to attend the event.
Bishop to deliver remarks
Diocese of Providence Bishop Bruce Lewandowski is scheduled to speak during the ceremony.
The event is set to begin at 4 p.m.
Honoring a longtime leader
Ruggerio served for decades in the Rhode Island Senate and was a central figure in shaping state policy during his tenure.
