According to the National Weather Service Boston, much of Rhode Island could see 3 to 5 inches of snow, with some parts of the state particularly southwestern Rhode Island, potentially seeing totals up to 8 inches.
Snow is expected to move into Rhode Island between 8 p.m. and midnight, becoming steadiest overnight before tapering off Saturday morning. The advisory warns that slick and hazardous travel conditions are likely, especially on untreated roads during the overnight hours and early morning.
Forecasters note snowfall totals may vary significantly over short distances depending on the storm’s track. Lighter snow showers could linger into Saturday morning, with drier conditions expected later in the day. Another system is also being monitored for late Sunday into early Monday, which could bring freezing rain.
Residents are urged to plan ahead, use caution if traveling, and stay tuned for updates.
