NEWPORT, R.I. — The 2025 Newport Folk Festival took place across Friday, July 25 to Sunday, July 27 at the iconic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island.
The artist roster for 2025 was nothing short of spectacular, featuring a mix of folk, country, indie, soul, and genre-defying acts.
Some of the performers included Luke Combs, Waxahatchee, Bonny Light Horseman, Iron & Wine, Julien Baker & Torres, Jensen McRae, and Mon Rovîa.
The iconic event was founded in 1959 by jazz and folk impresario George Wein, along with manager Albert Grossman and artists Pete Seeger, Theodore Bikel, and Oscar Brand,
The festival first took place in 1959 and 1960, then returned as an annual event from 1963 to 1969, originally hosted at Freebody Park before moving to Festival Field. After a hiatus, George Wein revived it in 1985, and it has been held every year since at Fort Adams State Park.
Since then stars have flooded the stage at Fort Adams every year.
