BARRINGTON, R.I. — A Barrington teacher has been placed on administrative leave after he allegedly posted to social media that had no sympathy about the murder of Charlie Kirk (video at end of article).

In an e-mail to families Thursday night, Ashley said the district has launched “a thorough investigation, led by a third-party investigator.”

At Thursday’s school committee meeting several parents condemned the post as “disgusting.” While a Barrington senior praised the teacher for the “incredible impact” he has had on students.

Ashley emphasized that the district must follow its policies and cannot release further details.

“I want to be clear: Barrington Public Schools holds its staff to the highest professional standards,” Ashley said. “We will always take appropriate steps to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all our students and staff.”

The teacher’s name and school affiliation have not been disclosed.

Similar incidents have surfaced in Massachusetts, where two teachers were also placed on leave for social media posts related to Kirk’s killing.
