Bear spotted South Kingstown — one of several recent sightings in R.I.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — A large black bear was spotted near Indian Head Trail on Route 1 North in South Kingstown shortly after 6 PM Sunday evening.

This marks the latest in a series of bear sightings reported across Rhode Island in recent weeks, including areas like North Kingstown, Exeter, Burrillville, West Warwick, Warwick, Smithfield, Cranston, North Smithfield, Johnston and Scituate.

Officials are urging residents to secure trash, remove bird feeders, and avoid approaching the animals if seen.

Report any sightings to local authorities or DEM.
