CRANSTON, R.I. — Cranston police say they’ve made an arrest in Monday’s deadly shooting of a teenager at Pocasset Village.

Authorities have charged 19-year-old D’Maury Monteiro of Fall River with shooting and killing 16-year-old Eduardo Loran Colon of Providence. The incident happened just before 3 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of the Dyer Avenue apartment complex.

Investigators believe Monteiro, Colon, and another man arrived together in a stolen vehicle and appeared to be preparing to break into a car when Monteiro allegedly shot Colon multiple times at close range.

Monteiro was arrested Tuesday morning in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and will be extradited to Rhode Island to face charges. Police say the shooting was caught on surveillance video, but a motive remains unclear.
