Police across Rhode Island say a delivery driver is behind a string of armed robberies that stretch across multiple cities and span several years.
Investigators have accused 36-year-old Khivory Alston of holding up 18 businesses in Cranston, Johnston, Providence, and Woonsocket. Cranston police arrested Alston Tuesday night after responding to an armed robbery at Moon Market on Reservoir Avenue.
Newly released bodycam footage shows officers taking Alston into custody while he was wearing an Amazon jacket, though Amazon tells us they are still “looking into the situation.” The company noted that many drivers operate through independent delivery contractors.
Cranston detectives say six robberies in their city appear tied to Alston, adding that he used his delivery truck during several of the incidents. Police say he typically threatened clerks with a knife or implied he had a gun.
Johnston police are also reviewing their November 26 robbery at the Cumberland Farms on Killingly Street, where a suspect dressed in black demanded money and threatened to shoot the clerk before jumping the counter and running off with cash.
In Providence District Court on Wednesday, Alston was arraigned on 10 counts of first-degree robbery linked to cases from 2019 to 2025 in Providence, Pawtucket, and Woonsocket. He also faces an assault charge and was ordered held without bail.
Cranston police plan to arraign him Friday on six additional charges tied to robberies at:
• Moon Market
• 7-Eleven (Reservoir Ave)
• Quality Fuel (Cranston St)
• Capital Liquors (Park Ave)
• Pontiac Food Mart (Pontiac Ave)
• Mutual Gas (Dyer Ave)
Investigators believe there may be more cases connected to Alston as departments continue comparing evidence across multiple communities.
