On May 5, 1992, the Board of Trustees of Roger Williams College voted to rename the institution Roger Williams University, reflecting its rapid growth and evolving academic offerings. Just a year later, RWU opened the state’s first and only law school—the Roger Williams University School of Law—cementing its place as a cornerstone of higher education in Rhode Island.

Located on a stunning waterfront campus in Bristol, Rhode Island, RWU offers a wide array of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, with strengths in law, architecture, marine biology, criminal justice, and public service.

Notable alumni of Roger Williams University include:
    •    Shane McMahon – Businessman and professional wrestler, known for his executive role in WWE and as a member of the McMahon family
    •    Danielle Niles – Emmy-nominated meteorologist formerly with WBZ-TV in Boston
    •    Marcos Devers – Massachusetts State Representative
    •    Brian Moynihan (attended) – Chairman and CEO of Bank of America (law school, did not graduate)
    •    Jason Mattera – Emmy-nominated journalist and conservative commentator
    •    Peter Kilmartin – Former Attorney General of Rhode Island

The university continues to embody the legacy of its namesake—Roger Williams, a champion of civil liberties and religious freedom.
