PROVIDENCE, R.I. — After over eight years of serving up some of the best barbecue in New England, Durk’s Bar-B-Q will be closing its doors.

Owner Steve Durkee announced on social media that the restaurant will remain open through the end of November, calling the decision a personal, “life decision” rather than a business one.

Durk’s has been a fixture in the Providence food scene since opening in 2016 — known for its smoked meats, southern sides, and laid-back atmosphere that brought a true taste of barbecue culture to Rhode Island.

Durkee thanked customers and staff past and present, saying, “We so appreciate and feel privileged for all the years of letting us feed you. From all the staff at Durk’s, past and present, we truly thank you.”

The restaurant, which moved downtown from Thayer Street several years ago, built a loyal following and drew diners from across New England. Fans now have just a few more weeks to grab a final plate of brisket, ribs, and cornbread before Durk’s officially closes at the end of the month.
