BARRINGTON, R.I. — A former Barrington bus monitor has been arrested after being accused of inappropriately touching two young students.
Kevin Langlois, 58, of Rehoboth, faces has been charged with three counts of second-degree child molestation, and one count each of indecent solicitation of a child, simple assault, and indecent exposure.
Langlois was arraigned Thursday, where a judge set bail at $10,000 with surety and issued a no-contact order. Police said the alleged incidents involved two girls between the ages of 5 and 12.
Police said the investigation began in June after the first incident was reported, with two additional incidents reported later.
Langlois, who had been employed by Ocean State Transit since 2022, has since been fired. In response to the allegations, the Barrington School Committee voted earlier this year to end its contract with Ocean State Transit, which was scheduled to expire on July 1.
The district also established a director of transportation position to lead investigations, oversee the search for a new provider, and strengthen safety protocols.
