CRANSTON, R.I. — Garden City Center is preparing for a major dining expansion, with four new restaurants expected to open at the Cranston shopping destination over the coming year.
The additions include Anna’s Taqueria, Sally’s Apizza, PopUp Bagels, and Lanner Noodles, all of which will be opening their first-ever Rhode Island locations.
The earliest arrival is expected to be Anna’s Taqueria, a Boston-based Mexican restaurant scheduled to open in the coming months. Known for made-to-order burritos, tacos, quesadillas, bowls, and salads, the restaurant will occupy the space across from Whole Foods on Sockanosset Cross Road, previously home to Boston Market. The Garden City location will mark the company’s 13th restaurant and its first outside Massachusetts.
Later this year, Sally’s Apizza plans to open in the former Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza space. The legendary pizzeria began in New Haven, Connecticut, and is widely recognized for its coal-fired pies featuring a thin crust, charred base, and tomato-forward sauce.
PopUp Bagels, another Connecticut-based brand, is also heading to Garden City. The shop is expected to take over the current Yankee Candle location, though an opening date has not yet been announced. The company is known for its fresh bagels and rotating selection of flavored schmears.
The final addition, Lanner Noodles, is projected to open in early 2027 next to Chaska. The noodle bar will replace Bistro 22, which closed after sustaining heavy damage when a fire broke out at the neighboring Applebee’s in October 2024. That Applebee’s building was later demolished, and the chain is now relocating its Cranston restaurant to Chapel View.
Lanner Noodles specializes in handcrafted noodles served in rich bone broths made with locally sourced ingredients. The Garden City restaurant will become the brand’s third location and its first outside the Boston area.
