PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Questions are beginning to surface about the future of Kim English as head coach of the Providence Friars men’s basketball program.

Reports circulating within the college basketball community suggest the coach may not return to Providence College next season. The discussion has gained attention as the team approaches the final games of the regular season.

The speculation increased after Wednesday night’s game while Providence continues to fight for positioning ahead of the upcoming Big East Tournament.

College basketball insider Adam Zagoria reported that English learned roughly a week ago that he would not return as head coach next year. Providence College has not confirmed the report, and no official announcement has been made.

Kim English’s Record With the Friars

English is currently in his third season leading the Providence men’s basketball program.

During his tenure, the Friars have posted a 42–50 overall record. In games played within the Big East Conference, Providence has a 20–36 mark.

Despite the speculation, the team remains focused on the remainder of the season. Providence is still competing for conference tournament positioning.

Big East Tournament Could Shape the Program’s Next Steps

With the Big East Tournament approaching, attention is beginning to shift toward what the future may hold for the program.

Coaching decisions across college basketball often take place once the season ends. For now, Providence College has not publicly addressed the report regarding English’s future with the program.
