Man seriously injured in Woonsocket daytime shooting

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — TWoonsocket police are investing after a 29-year-old man was shot during the daytime.

The victim drove himself to Landmark Medical Center around noon after being shot in the torso. He remains in serious condition.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near 301 Robinson Street, at the corner of Progresso Avenue, where they found multiple shell casings. Witnesses said at least two people were seen fleeing the area in a vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
