BURRILLVILLE, R.I. — Comedian Matt Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee once again offer to buy ‘The Conjuring’ house in Burrillville, Rhode Island. The pair recently purchased another iconic paranormal location: the Connecticut home of Ed and Lorraine Warren, famed ghost hunters featured in The Conjuring film series.
The duo recently sent an offer letter to the current owner of the Burrillville property, Jacqueline Nuñez, renewing their push to acquire the haunted farmhouse that inspired the 2013 horror film.
Once a popular destination for ghost hunters and horror fans alike, the Burrillville house has largely gone quiet since the Burrillville Town Council declined to renew its entertainment license last year. The decision effectively halted tours, events, and overnight stays.
Nuñez, who bought the house in 2022, had operated it as a paranormal tourism site, but concerns from local officials and neighbors eventually led to a crackdown on public events at the property.
At their Connecticut property, the two plan to host overnight stays and provide guests with investigational equipment to conduct their own ghost hunts. They’re also caretakers of the Warrens’ haunted museum, home to more than 750 paranormal artifacts, including the infamous Annabelle doll.
Castee says guests will be given access to the museum, adding that the pair hope to create a similar immersive experience in Burrillville, if they can secure the sale.
If the deal goes through, it could create one of the most high-profile paranormal tourism networks in the country, uniting two iconic haunted sites under one brand. But for now, it remains to be seen whether Nuñez will accept the offer, or whether Burrillville officials would support efforts to reopen the house to the public.
Rife is no stranger to Rhode Island, as last August he revealed he recently bought a home in Rhode Island, although the Ocean State wasn’t originally on his radar. During an appearance on the podcast Are You Garbage?, Rife shared that he purchased the property about three months ago, admitting, “It wasn’t even in the top 10 states I looked at.” But after finding the right fit, he made the move.
He noted the comedy scene in Rhode Island its proximity to Boston played a large factor in his decision to move here.
