PROVIDENCE, R.I. — An unforgettable moment unfolded during a Unified Basketball game between Mount Pleasant and East Providence, as Mount Pleasant’s Jescell Stevens delivered a game winning three pointer in the closing moments.

With time winding down and the game on the line, Stevens pulled up from near half court and knocked down the three to give Mount Pleasant the lead, a lead they would hold to secure the win.

What made the moment even more special was what happened after the shot. Players from East Providence, along with coaches, were seen congratulating Stevens, showing true sportsmanship in a moment that went beyond the final score.

The crowd erupted as the shot dropped, capping off one of the most incredible finishes of the season.

Congratulations to Jescell Stevens on an incredible game winning shot and what could be the shot of the year.

Jescell is a senior at Mount.

Unified Basketball falls under the special Olympics umbrella, and is a Rhode Island Interscholastic League sport. It pairs regular education students with their peers who have special needs.
