James Diossa announces reelection campaign for Rhode Island treasurer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island General Treasurer James Diossa has officially announced his campaign for reelection, seeking another term overseeing the state’s finances.

Diossa, a Democrat and former mayor of Central Falls, said he plans to continue focusing on financial stability, transparency, and expanding economic opportunities for Rhode Islanders.

Since taking office, Diossa has highlighted efforts to strengthen the state’s pension system, expand unclaimed property outreach, and improve access to financial literacy programs.

He said his campaign will center on building on that work while continuing to protect taxpayers and ensure responsible fiscal management.

Background and experience

Before becoming treasurer, Diossa served as mayor of Central Falls, where he gained attention for helping guide the city out of bankruptcy and stabilizing its finances.

He said he is confident in his record and is ready to make his case to voters.
