PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Thousands gathered outside the Rhode Island State House on Saturday afternoon for the “No Kings” rally, part of a series of coordinated demonstrations taking place in cities across the country this weekend.
Demonstrators expressed opposition to several of President Trump’s policies, focusing on issues such as the state of democracy, federal immigration enforcement, and the use of military forces in U.S. cities.
Participants in Providence carried signs, chanted slogans, and listened to speeches focused on civic engagement and accountability among elected officials.
The demonstration remained peaceful, and Providence police reported no incidents.
Across the country, nearly 2,600 rallies were planned in cities including Boston, Washington D.C., and New York.
Saturday’s events marked the second major nationwide rally, with the first held on June 14, 2025. The June demonstrations were organized to coincide with the U.S. Army’s 250th Anniversary Parade in Washington, D.C., which also marked President Trump’s 79th birthday.
A separate “Good Trouble” anti-Trump rally was also held in Providence back on July 17.
