PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Rhode Island roads rank last in the U.S. according to mapping company, eSpatial. The company set out to identify the states with the most problematic road conditions by examining government records and live traffic data. It assessed each state based on five main criteria: congestion levels according to Numbeo’s Traffic Index, road satisfaction scores from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, the volume of Google searches for ‘pothole complaint,’ the total number of road fatalities, and the incidence of speeding-related deaths as reported by the Department of Transportation.
