JAMESTOWN, R.I. — Around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, a Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) bus overturned on Route 138 Westbound in Jamestown, near the Newport Bridge.

The crash blocked the right lane and brought a large response from first responders, who were seen working at the site of the overturned bus. Traffic in the area was significantly slowed as crews arrived to assess the situation.

Emergency crews remain on scene, and drivers heading to or from the bridge are being urged to expect heavy delays. The bus driver and two passengers were taken to the hospital while one passenger refused medical treatment.
