LINCOLN, R.I. — A crash is causing delays on Route 146 South in Lincoln near Exit 7A (Route 116 North) after a CAT mini excavator fell off a trailer, blocking the right lane and right shoulder.
The excavator is marked as belonging to J. Wakim a landscaping company out of Smithfield. It is not clear what caused the equipment to come loose from the trailer, and there have been no immediate reports of injuries.
Sterry Street Towing is on scene handling the recovery, towing the excavator, and cleaning up debris left behind from the incident. Motorists should expect delays while crews continue working to clear the roadway.
If you’re traveling through the area, use caution, slow down, and be prepared for traffic backups as emergency personnel and recovery crews remain on scene.
