GLOCESTER, R.I. — Three people have been arrested in connection with a chaotic July 4th party that involved underage drinking and a physical altercation with police at a home on Spring Grove Road.

Glocester Police said they responded to 142 Spring Grove Road around 9:22 p.m. on the night of the Fourth, after reports of a large fight. Officers arrived to find multiple young people pushing and fighting on the property, prompting backup from Burrillville, Smithfield, Scituate, and the Rhode Island State Police.

The investigation revealed that several underage individuals were drinking both inside the house and outside on the property. Two underage girls were transported by rescue crews due to extreme intoxication.

Three people have since been arrested:

    •    Bryan Borzell, 48, Glocester, was charged with one count of Furnishing of Alcoholic Beverages for Underage Persons. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

    •    Alexander Borzell, 18, of Smithfield, was charged with simple assault on a Glocester police officer. He was released on $5,000 personal recognizance.

    •    Rachel Hernandez, 37, was charged with one count of Furnishing of Alcoholic Beverages for Underage Persons. Hernandez, who is currently on probation for a DUI involving a child under 13, was initially held without bail. She was later arraigned in 3rd District Court and released on $1,000 with surety.

Police say the incident is a reminder of the dangers of underage drinking and the consequences of violating Rhode Island’s social host law.
