Happy 2-Year Anniversary to the Washington Bridge closure.

Because nothing says Rhode Island like a “temporary” shutdown that becomes a historical landmark.

On this day December 11, 2023, RIDOT abruptly closed the westbound side after discovering critical structural failures.

On this day December 11, 2025, commuters are still discovering… new backroads, new podcasts, and new depths of patience they never asked for.

Two years later:

• Still no bridge.

• Still no clear answers.

• Still no accountability.

• Still sitting in traffic thinking about the life you once had.

Cheers to another year of detours, hearings, finger-pointing, and “updates” that somehow never update anything.

Rhode Island’s longest relationship is now officially the one between commuters and the I-195 traffic jam.

The bridge is not expected to be completed until November 2028.
