TIVERTON, R.I. — A Massachusetts woman is facing charges after Tiverton police say she left her 15-month-old baby and a dog in a car to play slots at Bally’s Casino.
Around 7 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to reports of an unattended child in the casino’s parking garage. Police say they found the infant asleep and a small dog inside a parked, unlocked Toyota on the upper level.
The car was traced to 35-year-old Elyse Busch of Onset, MA, who was located inside the casino playing slots. Security footage showed she had been there for over 30 minutes.
She was arrested and charged with child neglect. The baby was taken to Hasbro Children’s Hospital to be checked out and later released to a family member. DCYF has since been notified.
Busch was arraigned and released on $3,000 bail. She’s due back in court July 17.
Back in May, two adults from Providence were charged with felony child cruelty and neglect after police reported that they left two young children alone in a parked vehicle while spending hours inside Bally’s Twin River Casino in Lincoln.
