PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The recent ICE arrest of a Brazilian woman, Rosane Ferreira-De Oliveira, in Worcester has ignited widespread public outrage.

Rosane Ferreira-De Oliveira was arrested by ICE agents last week in front of her two daughters, one holding a newborn, drawing an emotional reaction from bystanders.

A crowd quickly gathered, confronting the agents and attempting to prevent the arrest.

Ferreira-De Oliveira is currently being held at the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island.

Footage of the arrest has gone viral, showing her daughter screaming while neighbors rushed to intervene.

Worcester City Manager Eric Batista described the scene as chaotic, stating that the crowd became “unruly,” with some individuals physically confronting federal agents and local police in an effort to block the vehicle from leaving.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Ferreira-De Oliveira entered the U.S. illegally in 2022 and is facing multiple assault charges.
