Over 50 animals rescued from house in Central Falls, RISPCA requesting donations

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is asking for the public’s help after rescuing over 50 animals from a Central Falls apartment.

On Monday afternoon, RISPCA staff removed 46 cats and four dogs from a Central Street residence. According to RISPCA President Wayne Kezirian, the animals were found living in deplorable conditions without access to food or water.

The rescue has more than doubled the number of cats currently in the organization’s care. Because the main Warwick shelter is already at capacity, the cats were transported to RISPCA’s East Providence facility.

The organization is now seeking monetary donations, pet supplies, cleaning products, and volunteers to help care for the animals. Donations can be made online, dropped off at the Warwick or East Providence shelters, or purchased through the RISPCA’s Amazon Wishlist.

Authorities believe the apartment where the animals were discovered may also be connected to the suspicious death of a 24-year-old woman currently under investigation.
