Rhode Island Housewives stand up!

The Bravo executive and Watch What Happens Live host addressed the buzz surrounding the network’s surprise announcement of its newest franchise.

Speaking with E! News cohost Keltie Knight at Universal’s Epic Universe launch in Florida on May 21, Cohen acknowledged fans’ reactions to the unexpected location choice.

“I have to assume people were surprised,” he said. “I don’t totally know the reaction, but I hope it was great—because the show is going to be great.”

Cohen also hinted that the element of surprise was exactly what Bravo was going for. “We like to announce things that people don’t see coming,” he added.

The franchise marks the first Real Housewives series set in New England, and Cohen made it clear he’s all in on the Ocean State.

The Real Housewives of Rhode Island was officially announced earlier this month and is currently in development.
