WESTERLY, R.I. — The remains discovered last month on the beach near Taylor Swift’s mansion in Watch Hill have officially been identified as 31-year-old Eric Wein of Massachusetts, according to South Kingstown Police.

Wein was reported missing on April 18, and his car was located in South Kingstown days earlier on April 10. His remains washed up on shore May 14, just down the beach from Swift’s estate in Westerly.

Police say no foul play is suspected and the investigation has been closed.

This case drew widespread attention not just because of its high-profile location, but due to mounting concerns across New England — where 13 bodies have been found in three states since March.

Despite serial killer theories circulating online, officials have firmly denied any connection. Westerly’s police chief told media there’s no evidence linking these cases, attributing the rumors to social media speculation.

One family — whose daughter’s body was one of the first discovered — also rejected the serial killer theory, calling it “completely false.”
