LINCOLN, R.I. — Crews have recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing Tuesday evening at Lincoln Woods. According to the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, the swimmer was last seen near Sunset Cove, outside the designated swimming and lifeguard areas.

Emergency teams began searching within minutes, but poor visibility made the search difficult. The swimmer, believed to be a 22 or 23-year-old Hispanic man, was found around 8:10 p.m.

Lincoln Police, Lincoln Fire, the Dive Team, Rhode Island State Police, and RIDEM’s Department of Law Enforcement all responded to the scene.

Police are still investigating.
