Man accused of vandalizing Pride crosswalk in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Over the weekend, East Providence police arrested 40-year-old Antonio Formisano vandalizing a Pride crosswalk on Taunton Avenue. Authorities say he drove over the rainbow-painted street Sunday night, leaving behind visible black tire marks.

Formisano was arraigned Monday and entered a not guilty plea. He was granted $2,000 bail and is due back in court on July 8 for a pre-trial conference.

City officials say the crosswalk, located in front of City Hall, is meant to represent inclusion and community support for LGBTQ+ residents.
