Suspect in Federal Hill Restaurant shooting identified

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Providence police have identified a suspect in connection with the Federal Hill restaurant shooting that left a man hospitalized.

Authorities say 23-year-old Nyzaiah Wooten is wanted in connection with the shooting, which happened Thursday night at Capri Seafood in DePasquale Square.

Police said the victim was shot in the abdomen following a verbal altercation and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is currently in stable condition.

Investigators said the suspect fled the scene on foot toward Spruce Street and Acorn Street immediately after the shooting.

Wooten is now facing potential felony assault and firearms charges as police continue their search.

Officials say the investigation remains ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Providence police.
