BARRINGTON, R.I. — A third allegation of misconduct has been made against a former Barrington school bus monitor, the district confirmed in a message to families on Monday.
The latest report involves the same monitor previously accused of inappropriately touching two students last month. According to Barrington Public Schools, all three incidents reportedly occurred on the same special education bus route.
While the district initially withheld that detail to protect student privacy, officials said they chose to release it “in the interest of transparency.”
The monitor, who was hired by Ocean State Transit in 2022, was placed on leave after the first allegation surfaced and has since been permanently removed from the district, along with the bus driver assigned to the route.
Barrington Public Schools said the newest report has been shared with the R.I. Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), and that it continues to cooperate fully with law enforcement and Title IX investigations.
In response to the ongoing allegations, the Barrington School Committee voted earlier this month to terminate its contract with Ocean State Transit.
Police previously confirmed that at least one of the incidents is being investigated as a possible second-degree sexual assault.
It remains unclear if any charges have been filed.
