PAWTUCKET, R.I. — The former Providence cop arrested in last week’s Pawtucket drug raid was arraigned Monday morning and ordered held without bail.

Destiny Viera, 25, was arraigned on multiple charges, including two counts of manufacturing, delivering, or possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver, conspiracy, distribution near a school, and maintaining a common nuisance.

Viera, who graduated from the Providence Police Academy’s 72nd Training Academy in September 2024, was still in her probationary period at the time of her arrest. Police confirmed that due to the seriousness of the charges, Viera will not be retained by the department.

Authorities said the arrest followed a joint investigation between Providence and Pawtucket police. The case will now move to Superior Court.

Also arrested in the raid was 24-year-old Jaylan Lopez of Pawtucket, who is facing the same charges. Both Viera and Lopez remain held without bail at the ACI.
