Rhode Island gubernatorial candidate Helena Foulkes took to social media today, blasting the Trump Administration’s actions as “disgraceful.”

“Free speech is free speech, and the actions of the Trump Administration are disgraceful. This should alarm everyone,” she wrote.

Foulkes also reflected on her 2016 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when the late-night host called on CVS to shorten its “fabulously long” receipts, a moment she described as having “a blast.”

Her post comes a day after Jimmy Kimmel was abruptly fired from his longtime late-night role, ending a run that stretched nearly two decades. His departure sent shockwaves through Hollywood and beyond, with fans and public figures quickly weighing in.

The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, criticized Kimmel’s monologue where he stated “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.” Carr then threatened federal action against ABC affiliates who carried the show.

Nexstar, which owns 32 ABC affiliates nationwide, is currently seeking FCC approval for a $6.2 billion merger. Following its decision to pull Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Sinclair Broadcast Group quickly followed suit. In a statement, the major station operator said suspending the show was not enough: “Sinclair also calls upon Mr. Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we urge Mr. Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk family and to Turning Point USA.”
