Hit-and-run in Cranston: Police ask public for help identifying SUV

CRANSTON, R.I. — Cranston police are asking for the public’s help in an ongoing hit-and-run investigation that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The crash happened Jan. 11, 2026. Police say it occurred around 5:19 p.m. at the intersection of Budlong Road and Everett Road.

What happened

According to police, two people were crossing Everett Road at the time of the crash.

Investigators say a silver or gray SUV was traveling southbound. The vehicle passed a stopped car that had been yielding.

Police say the SUV entered the intersection without its headlights on. It then struck both pedestrians.

After the crash, the SUV fled the scene. It continued southbound without stopping.

Vehicle involved

Investigators believe the vehicle may be a silver or gray Honda CR-V.

Police have obtained video footage and an image of the SUV leaving the area. As a result, investigators have expanded the search using the department’s Flock camera network.

Injuries reported

One pedestrian suffered a broken leg, ankle and foot. That person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Ongoing investigation

The Cranston Police Traffic Unit continues to investigate the crash.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Police are also requesting home or business surveillance video from the area around the time of the crash.
