CRANSTON, R.I. — Filming for JJ Abrams’ Ghostwriter, starring Glen Powell, was underway in Cranston on Tuesday afternoon.

Crews were spotted along Pontiac Avenue, where the local business The Time Capsule was temporarily transformed into a comic shop called Graffiti Comics for the shoot.

The production drew attention from residents eager to catch a glimpse of Powell and the film crew in action.

Ghostwriter began filming earlier this week in Providence, with scenes shot in front of the Providence Performing Arts Center, on College Hill, and at a Rockstar Piercing on Wickenden Street, which was temporarily converted into a cell phone store for a scene. While most of the film has already been shot in the United Kingdom, additional scenes are being filmed in Rhode Island this week.

Filming is expected to continue on August 20 along Benefit Street and on August 24 and 25 near the Point Street Bridge.

The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jenna Ortega, and Emma Mackey, though so far only Powell has been spotted in Rhode Island. This is not Emma Mackey’s first time filming in Rhode Island, she was here last summer filming Ella McCay alongside Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson.
