PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Roger Williams Park Zoo has officially announced the name of its newest resident — a baby two-toed sloth named Quint.

The zoo shared the exciting news on social media Wednesday, revealing that the tiny sloth’s name is a playful nod to the shark-hunting, Narragansett Beer drinking character from the classic 1972 film “Jaws.”

According to zoo staff, both Quint and his mother Fiona are healthy and thriving. In a recent health check, the little sloth weighed about 1.5 pounds, which they described as “about the weight of a loaf of bread”, and continues to grow each day.

Born October 11 to parents Fiona and Riley, Quint has been spending his early weeks quietly bonding with his mom behind the scenes as he adjusts to his new home.
