PAWTUCKET, R.I. — A third victim has died following the February 16 shooting at a high school hockey game in Pawtucket, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
Gerald Dorgan, 75, died nine days after he was critically wounded during the attack at Dennis M. Lynch Arena. He had been transported to Rhode Island Hospital in critical condition along with his wife, Linda Dorgan, and family friend Thomas Geruso, who were also injured.
Police identified the gunman as 56-year-old Robert Dorgan, who also went by Roberta Esposito. Investigators said he opened fire on members of his own family seated in the stands during his son’s hockey game before taking his own life. Authorities have described the shooting as a targeted, family-related incident.
Rhonda Dorgan, 52 — the shooter’s ex-wife — and their son, Aidan Dorgan, 23, were killed during the initial attack. Gerald Dorgan, Rhonda’s father and Aidan’s grandfather, later died from his injuries.
The shooting happened during a Senior Night game in front of players, families, and spectators, shaking the local hockey and school communities.
