Tony DiCicco, founder of Tony’s Colonial Food, dies

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Antonio Tony DiCicco, co-founder of the iconic Federal Hill shop Tony’s Colonial Food, has died, according to his family.

DiCicco passed away on December 3rd, surrounded by loved ones. 

Known for helping build one of Providence’s most recognizable Italian markets, DiCicco played a key role in bringing authentic Italian foods and traditions to the city.

Tony's Colonial Food dies

DiCicco immigrated from Italy at 19 and worked to grow a small deli on Federal Hill into a well-known destination for specialty products and traditional cuisine. 

Over the years, Tony’s Colonial Food became a staple in the neighborhood, reflecting DiCicco’s dedication to his heritage and the local community.

DiCicco was remembered by loved ones as a hardworking and passionate businessman who took pride in sharing Italian culture through food.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nardolillo Funeral Home in Cranston.

A Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church.
