SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — A woman is accused of trying to burn down her father’s mobile home while he was still inside, according to police.

Investigators said the woman’s 84-year-old father discovered burning rags placed near the mobile home and was able to quickly put them out before the fire spread further.

Police said the man went outside to confront his daughter, Wendy Baker, 50, about the incident, which is when investigators say she assaulted him.

Police said she fled the area before officers eventually tracked her down on Interstate 95 North. Investigators said officers pursued Baker into Warwick, where she was ultimately taken into custody.

Baker is facing several charges, including:

  • Domestic Violence – Arson 1st Degree
  • Domestic Violence – Assault Person > 60 Causing Bodily Injury
  • Eluding Law Enforcement, Vehicle in a High Speed Pursuit – 1st Offense

She is currently being held without bail.
