Woonsocket man faces first-degree murder charge in brother’s death

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — A Woonsocket man is facing a first-degree murder charge in his brother’s death after a fight, reported by police.

Just after 8 p.m., officers responded to reports of a fight near the Court Street bridge. When they arrived, they found 36-year-old Luis Cortes Teron unresponsive. He was rushed to Landmark Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police determined Luis Cortes Teron died after hitting his head on the concrete during the altercation. According to authorities, the fatal injury was caused by a punch delivered by his older brother, 39-year-old Alexandro Cortes Teron.

Alexandro was arrested and has been charged with one count of first-degree domestic murder in his brother’s death. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence District Court on Monday.
