Armani Henderson, a former LaSalle Academy, and Johnson and Wales graduate was recently signed by the Loco Beach Coconuts, one of the newest teams in the Savannah Bananas’ Banana Ball Championship League. Henderson played outfield in college and bats and throws right-handed.

This is the second player with a connection to Rhode Island picked up by the league after former University of Rhode Island (URI) pitcher Trystan Levesque was selected by the Savannah Bananas in Thursday’s draft.

The Savannah Bananas are scheduled to play their first-ever games at Gillette Stadium on August 28 and 29 where they will take on the newly added Loco Beach Coconuts.

The Banana Ball Championship League traces its roots back to the Savannah Bananas, a collegiate summer team founded in 2016 that quickly became a national sensation for its unique blend of competitive baseball and entertainment. The Bananas introduced Banana Ball in 2020, a reimagined version of the sport created to speed up the pace of play and engage fans with nonstop action. The format features fast-paced rules, high-energy crowd interaction, and a show-style atmosphere that blends baseball with performance. As the Bananas’ popularity exploded on social media and through nationwide tours, demand grew for a larger competitive structure. This led to the formation of the Banana Ball Championship League, bringing multiple teams together under the same fan-first model. The league continues to expand as players from across the country join, inspired by its focus on fun, athleticism, and reinventing the traditional baseball experience.

The Banana Ball league is a unique blend of high-energy baseball and entertainment, featuring teams such as the Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Firefighters, Indianapolis Clowns, and now the Loco Beach Coconuts.
