Providence police arrest man in fatal Broad Street shooting of 29-year-old woman

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal shooting that left a woman dead on Thursday evening, according to police. Officers responded to a home on Broad Street shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, police discovered 29-year-old Morgan Lynn Boss with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have charged 26-year-old Kelvin Mendez Cruz with domestic murder and with using a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death. He is currently being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 21.

Police have not yet released details about what led up to the shooting. Court documents describe Cruz as an intimate partner of Boss.
