NEWPORT, R.I. — Former President Joe Biden and comedian Jay Leno were among the notable guests at this year’s Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week, where hundreds of cars were on show.
The annual automotive celebration brought car collectors, enthusiasts and celebrities to the city for several days of events. The week wrapped up on Sunday with the Audrain Newport Concours d’Elegance at Fort Adams State Park, where more than 180 vehicles were on display.
Biden arrived at Fort Adams in the 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray convertible that has been part of his family for nearly 60 years. His father gave him the Goodwood Green Corvette as a wedding gift in 1967.
The longtime car enthusiast has previously shown the Corvette on Jay Leno’s Garage. Leno was also at the Newport event and joined Biden around the classic sports car at Fort Adams.
Leno, who owns a home in Newport, has become a familiar face at the city’s automotive events. He is known for his extensive car collection and longtime interest in classic and high-performance automobiles.
The Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week ran from October 1 through October 4 this year. The schedule included car tours, seminars, a supercar concours, Cars & Coffee and the traditional Concours d’Elegance.
Newport once again became a gathering place for automotive enthusiasts, with a wide range of historic and highly sought-after vehicles on display throughout the event. The top honor went to a 1938 Delahaye 165 Cabriolet, which was named Best of Show.
