WARWICK, R.I. — The former Hooters property on Airport Road in Warwick, owned by the estate of Buddy Cianci, has sold, ending the restaurant’s long run at the location.
The property at 667 Airport Road sits near T.F. Green International Airport. The 5,602-square-foot building was most recently marketed as a former Hooters restaurant with a full commercial kitchen.
The property had been listed for $1.2 million before the sale.
The building was formerly owned by Warwick Wings, LLC, which operated the Hooters franchise at the location.
Hooters was Rhode Island’s only location when the restaurant operated at the site. The Warwick location closed in 2024 after years of operating on Airport Road.
Vincent “Buddy” Cianci served as mayor of Providence from 1975 to 1984 and again from 1991 to 2002. He remained one of the city’s most recognizable political figures and later became a popular radio host after leaving City Hall.
Cianci also had a highly publicized criminal history. In 1984, he pleaded no contest to felony assault with a dangerous weapon and simple assault, after which he resigned as mayor. In 2002, Cianci was convicted of federal racketeering conspiracy in connection with “Operation Plunder Dome” and was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison.
