WARWICK, R.I. — There’s a new friendly face bringing smiles across the Community College of Rhode Island, and she’s already becoming a fan favorite. Meet CeCe, a golden retriever puppy born February 21, 2026, who has officially joined CCRI as the school’s new campus comfort dog.
CeCe made her debut earlier this week at the Knight Campus in Warwick during Enrollment Day, where students got their first chance to meet the newest member of the CCRI community.
Her role is simple but impactful. She helps reduce stress and create a more welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.
CeCe is expected to rotate between all four CCRI campuses, including Warwick, Lincoln, Providence, and Newport. You’ll likely see her during high-stress times like finals week, as well as at campus events, athletic games, and student activities.
The initiative was backed by CCRI President Rosemary Costigan, who said the goal is to strengthen support systems on campus and create a more positive atmosphere for students.
CeCe lives with her primary handler, Campus Police Officer Leo Tetreault, with additional support from Lt. Dana Packer. Both officers will bring her around campus to interact with the community.
Those working closely with her say she’s already showing the perfect temperament. She is friendly, social, and eager to meet new people.
CeCe was donated to the college through a collaborative effort involving local breeder Amanda Shea of Sheaman Farm in Connecticut, with assistance from Dan Flynn of Butterfly Farms in Lincoln.
She will soon begin formal training to prepare for her full-time role on campus. Early signs show she is already doing exactly what she was brought here to do, making people smile.
