Meet the HeartofRI Cat of the Week, Demi!
Demi is about to turn one, and she should not be celebrating in a cage.
There should be presents, treats and an unnecessarily elaborate birthday celebration she absolutely does not understand. Instead, after months of waiting, Demi is preparing to spend her first birthday at the shelter.

Demi is approximately six pounds of “what are you doing and can I help incorrectly?”She’s a ridiculously adorable little woodland pixie with things to pounce on, objects to investigate and approximately 47 extremely important appointments every day that only she knows about.
Demi has tested faint positive for FIV, but those three letters shouldn’t scare away her family. FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives with routine care. It isn’t contagious to people or dogs and is primarily spread between cats through deep bite wounds, not casual contact.
Demi doesn’t know she has a label. She’s far too busy playing, exploring, causing minor administrative problems and waking up every morning convinced TODAY someone is coming for her.
She has already spent months of her first year growing up in a cage. Please help us make sure her second year doesn’t begin there too.
No kitten should have to blow out her first imaginary candle from inside a cage.
The Heart of RI has adoption hours every Tuesday 2-6pm, Wednesday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm at 44 Worthington Road, Cranston.
