Meet our new Sunday feature, the Cat of the Week

Meet our new Sunday feature, the Cat of the Week!

We’ve received numerous requests to start this, so we’re making it happen.

Every Sunday, we’ll feature a cat from The Heart of RI who is looking for a forever home.

And we’re kicking off our very first Cat of the Week with Snack Shack Sharon.

Sharon is 2 years old, and her story is quite a journey.

She arrived at The Heart of RI in late March with five orange kittens. All five eventually found loving homes, but Sharon wasn’t exactly ready to make friends. She was scared, protective and wanted very little to do with people.

Then came a surprise: Sharon was pregnant again.

She soon gave birth to six more kittens. That meant 11 babies, two back-to-back litters and one very protective mama.

After everything she had been through, Sharon needed time to learn that people could be trusted.

And she has come a long way.

Today, Sharon is finally ready for adoption. She can now be petted and cared for and is slowly learning that human hands can bring comfort instead of fear.

She’ll need a calm, patient home with someone who understands boundaries and is willing to let her move at her own pace.

Underneath that tough exterior is a brave little cat who spent months taking care of her babies. Now it’s finally Sharon’s turn to be taken care of.

Interested in adopting Sharon?

Please contact The Heart of RI directly with any questions about Sharon, the adoption process, availability, or requirements. We are not involved in the adoption process and are simply helping these cats get some extra exposure in hopes of finding them a home.

The Heart of RI has adoption hours every Tuesday 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., Wednesday 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 44 Worthington Road, Cranston, Rhode Island.
