NEWPORT, R.I. — Hotel Viking has officially reopened following a six-month renovation as the historic Newport property approaches its 100th anniversary.
The landmark hotel recently unveiled extensive upgrades across the property, including redesigned guest rooms, updated dining areas, new patios, bars, and refreshed gathering spaces.
Nearly a century of Newport history
Hotel Viking first opened in 1926 and has long been considered one of Newport’s best-known luxury destinations. The reopening comes as the property prepares to celebrate its centennial on May 28.
The team behind the redesign said the updates were inspired by the French Riviera, blending coastal elegance with Newport’s traditional New England heritage.
New dining and outdoor spaces
Among the additions are renovations to patios with updated furniture and fixtures, along with a new café space known as Tuck Shop, as well as a renovated roof top bar called the Cap Club.
Developers said the renovation was designed to modernize the guest experience while preserving the hotel’s historic identity.
Expanding Newport’s hospitality scene
The hotel reopens just ahead of the busy summer season adding another major investment in Newport’s tourism and hospitality industry.
Hotel Viking remains one of the city’s most recognizable properties, located just steps from Bellevue Avenue and many of Newport’s historic attractions.
