NARRAGANSETT, R.I. — Chaos erupted at Narragansett Town Beach Tuesday afternoon after a large disturbance involving dozens of people escalated into a stabbing, leaving three people with minor wounds.
Police said officers responded to the beach around 3:00 p.m. after reports of a stabbing during a chaotic disturbance involving a large group of people. Video from the scene appeared to show dozens of people fighting, yelling, and running across the beach as crowds gathered around the incident.
Authorities said three people were treated for minor stab wounds. At this time, no suspects have been identified and the investigation remains active.
Two attendees who were not connected to the stabbings were arrested during the chaos and are facing charges including assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice.
The disturbance caused panic among beachgoers as police cleared the area.
Another separate disturbance was also reported Tuesday at Second Beach in Middletown, where multiple people were treated after exposure to pepper spray.
